“Elu ja armastus” Anton Hansen Tammsaare (nr 968)

“Life and love” is the exact title of the work, in which serious love and the ugliness of real life are pitted against each other. The novel was published in 1934 and is among the last novels of the writer. It describes a poor high school graduate’s fruitless search for a job in the city and her falling into the clutches of a single wealthy businessman, to whom she is initially hired as a servant and then briefly married.
