The book is the story of a cactus grower, a hobbyist, about his experiences.
The author takes the reader along the path that all novice flower growers inevitably follow. The interesting 3,000-member family of cacti, the history of their research, distribution, propagation, practical use in their homeland and the possibilities and perspectives of their use in our country are vividly and expressively told.
In the indoor culture of cacti, the problems of caring for them are discussed in detail; the author teaches the reader to take a conscious approach to growing cacti and recommends simple and witty techniques (organizing cacti to winter coolly in room conditions, applying a sliding shade, etc.).
Of interest are the “Latin Minutes” — explanations of the most important Latin botanical terms at the end of each chapter.
